1. Skin cells require water to obtain antioxidants and other nutrients as well as peptides that turn on collagen production and hormones and to transport wastes and poisons from them into the bloodstream and lymphatic system.

2. A study shows adults who drank two 8-ounce glasses of water before breakfast, lunch and dinner ate 75 to 90 fewer calories during each meal.

3. Among the most water-intensive organs in the human body, the liver, which is responsible for detoxifying the skin, consists of 96% water. The kidneys, also responsible for skin clarity, need water to flush toxins out of the body.

not all water counts

Drink filtered water with each meal or snack, and a glass between meals. While it’s fine to mix chlorella, spirulina or other green foods with water, coffee and other caffeinated drinks don’t count. Caffeine is a diuretic that counteracts water’s effects. Sodas have phosphoric acid that robs the body of calcium, and juices supply sugar. Eat fruits and vegetables that contain high amounts of water.
