It’s safe to say that some fears are more common than others. Fearing big dogs, spiders or being trapped in small spaces—seem to be heard more often than not. The fear of touching your eye… a phobia not talked about as much, but oddly more common than you think.

So what is one to do when they want to wear contacts but can’t get past the whole touching of the eye thing? EZ Contacts senior optician, Eddie Eisenberg, has some tips to help get past those fears and start their new life as a contact lens wearer. Some of Eddie’s tips include:




1. Educate Yourself –does your fear come from risk of eye infection or accidently poking your eye? Learn what to do to minimize those chances while keeping in mind the bigger picture.

2. Try A Little Every Day – no need to force yourself to wear contacts/touch your eyes immediately. Start small and increase daily.

3. Use A Mirror – when you can’t see where your fingers are headed, it’s easy to scare yourself out of going through with it.

4. Start Using Eye Drops – a small step that can get you used to putting things in your eye.

5. Educate Yourself –does your fear come from risk of eye infection or accidently poking your eye? Learn what to do to minimize those chances while keeping in mind the bigger picture.
